SkySwitch PRO is more than a remote power switch for 10Micron mounts. It is an integrated support system available in versions for both V2 and V3 controllers, designed for remote observatories and unattended operation. Mount status monitoring depends on the controller generation. With 10Micron V3 controllers, SkySwitch PRO can provide direct online mount status monitoring through the dedicated controller interface. With V2 controllers, status monitoring is performed indirectly through the ASCOM driver connection: if the mount is powered and communicating correctly, the ASCOM driver reports a valid connection state.

In addition to remote ON/OFF control, SkySwitch PRO extends observatory functionality with two capabilities that are particularly important in the 10Micron ecosystem: atmospheric refraction support and GPS-based synchronization.
Its built-in environmental sensor provides temperature, pressure, and humidity data that can be used by the 10Micron system for atmospheric refraction calculations. This matters because changing atmospheric conditions slightly shift the apparent position of celestial objects, and accurate environmental data helps the mount maintain more precise pointing and tracking under real observing conditions. In other words, SkySwitch PRO does not only display weather data — it provides operational information that supports more accurate mount performance.
SkySwitch PRO also integrates a high-sensitivity GPS receiver to provide accurate location, altitude, and UTC time data. This information is used by the companion software to synchronize the 10Micron mount through the ASCOM interface, without requiring a direct GPS connection to the mount. The synchronization process includes advanced validation logic, helping protect the user from sending unverified or unstable GPS, altitude, or time data to the mount.
By combining GPS-based synchronization, environmental sensing, remote ON/OFF control, and controller-aware status monitoring in one compact device, SkySwitch PRO helps users make better use of the advanced capabilities built into 10Micron mounts. SkySwitch PRO is available in dedicated hardware versions for 10Micron V2 and V3 controllers, allowing users to choose the correct version for their mount connection type.
